Tollgate Baku is a tensile structure with an ellipsoid shape. When approaching the airport by plane, passengers can see a star, the symbol of Azerbaijan, upon the airport. This effect has been obtained through using two different meshes and two gold tonality.

To support the panels,  a spider-shaped coupling system, which is normally used for glass facades, has been implemented.
